Weeknotes – S09E21 – Hanging In There

Summary:

Trying to keep to a good ‘project’ routine in the face of no paid work. Some success, but still a lack of motivation.

Monday:

Despite still not having any paid editing work to do, I decided to reinstate my ‘work’ routine. So, I was at my desk by 9:15am, ready to get on with…something…

I recently found a great YouTube creator who does short videos with very useful, actionable advice about expanding your YouTube audience, and I’d watched a few and made some notes.

So, I started out by typing up the notes I had. Then I went through some of the advice and applied it to both my existing and upcoming YouTube videos. I also created a checklist for preparing and posting videos, so I could continue to employ the identified steps in future.

I set up the video that was due to go live the next day, utilising all the tasks in my newly created checklist to improve its chances at finding an audience.

After lunch, it was my regular Monday online focus session, which I wasn’t feeling particularly motivated about. But a couple of lovely friends turned up to keep me focused and I made some really great progress on the short story anthology I’m currently working on, based on the pictures from a deck of Dixit cards.

I also tracked through all my outstanding story submissions and updated my spreadsheet.

Tuesday:

I read some chapters of a friend’s novel and provided some feedback.

I also made and posted a YouTube short, based on the longer video I’d scheduled to go live earlier in the day.

In the afternoon, I worked on the short story anthology, adding in some extra stories and editing them.

Wednesday:

I added another story to the collection and also went through all my existing pieces of flash fiction and identified more that might be suitable for the collection.

I also wrote a review of a book I finished the day before – and added notes about it to my document for the May Wrap-Up video.

Thursday:

I did some more filming and editing for an upcoming YouTube video.

I also helped Stanley with his blog post for the month – all about challenging your thoughts with facts.

Later, I finished yet another book, so I wrote my review and added to my video notes.

I also worked some more on my short story collection.

Friday:

I finished another book, wrote my review and added to my video notes.

Sunday:

I wrote my review of a book I finished the day before and added to my video notes.

I also brainstormed and prepped for a new BookTube video series I want to incorporate into my filming schedule.

I filmed the last section of reviews for my May wrap-up video and edited it all together.

I also created a title card for the new video series that I was really happy with.
