Summary:
Getting back in the work saddle is easier when the work is fun and interesting!
Monday:
Back from a week-long reading retreat and straight into an in-depth copy edit of a 140,000-word fantasy novel (after a couple of months of almost no work…)! Luckily, it’s by one of my favourite clients and it’s the sequel to one of the best books I edited last year – so I was really looking forward to getting stuck and felt no anxiety about the project whatsoever.
I made it to my desk to start work shortly after 9am, which I was pleased about – apparently, keeping to a proper work routine isn’t going to be a problem after so long without one – yay! I worked for about 2.5 hours, which felt very productive.
In the afternoon, I caught up on book reviews from last week’s reading retreat and did more prep for the release of my next YouTube video.
Tuesday:
Day two of being back in the work saddle and I was at my desk and ready to go before 9:30am. I’m already loving the fantasy sequel I’m working on, which definitely helps! I edited the next chunk.
In the afternoon, I completed a Bear post about our reading retreat and wrote my blog post for the month, about the concept of reading too much. Later, I prepped for the next podcast episode. I also did another couple of reviews for books I finished.
Wednesday:
Dave and I recorded our next podcast episode.
Thursday:
I continued editing the fantasy novel.
I also did a sample edit for a prospective new client.
Friday:
I did some filming for an upcoming YouTube video in my Reviews Revisited series.
Saturday:
I did some more filming for the Reviews Revisited video and then edited it.
I also wrote my review for the book I was reading for that video, since I finished it.
