Summary:
A mixed bag of writing and editing projects this week – progress made on multiple fronts, which is always nice.
Monday:
Despite one big editing project being cancelled, I still had the sci-fi novel to work on, so I cracked on with that.
In the afternoon online focus session, I wrote a blog post about my new creative obsession – my upcoming YouTube channel.
Then I went back to the short story anthology I’m in the process of putting together, based on a deck of Dixit cards. My editor friend, Leslie, is doing developmental editing of the stories as I go along, and the plan was to revise as I go, as well as adding new stories. But the second one in the collection needed some extensive work, so I’d stalled a bit with getting on with it. Today, I resolved to get past that one – and then I actually edited several more as well!
Tuesday:
I edited a chunk more of the sci-fi novel, organising the rest of the work so I could take some time off towards the end of this week.
In the afternoon Revision Club focus session, I watched some more Skillshare videos on building an audience on YouTube and also went through the feedback from my second CIEP Proofreading course assignment. I completed reviewing the rest of the course materials, in preparation for attempting the final assignment next week.
Then I went back to the Dixit anthology and revised the next story.
I also finished an audiobook, so I wrote my review and also put together notes on it for my April wrap-up reviews video.
In between times, I also listened to some more of The Three by Sarah Lotz and made notes for the first Reviews Revisited video on that.
Wednesday:
I finished another book so I wrote my review and typed up my notes for the April wrap-up video. I also decided to DNF my current audiobook, so wrote a review of that as well.
Thursday:
I spent most of the morning filming segments for the April wrap-up video and editing them together. I was worried I wouldn’t have enough to say about each book to make the video long or interesting enough – but what I’ve got so far is already nearly 25 minutes long and I’m only about halfway through… So, it turns out I don’t need to make as many notes on each book, which is going to make the whole project a lot less work!
Friday:
On Thursday afternoon, we went to Croydon to play games for the rest of the day with our friends who live there. The second game we played was Dead of Winter, which turned out to be an epic rollercoaster ride of an experience and highly entertaining. I enjoyed writing my review.
Saturday:
I went into town for a writing meetup, had a lovely catch-up with some great friends, and wrote the next story in the Dixit anthology.
Later, I listened to a chunk more of The Three by Sarah Lotz and made notes for an upcoming Reviews Revisited video.
I also did some editing of one of the sections for my June TBR Picks video.
Sunday:
I reached the halfway point in The Three, prepared my notes and filmed and edited the next section for the relevant video.
I also did a sample edit for a potential new client.
Later, our friend Nic came round and we recorded the next episode of the podcast with her as special guest.
