Weeknotes – S09E12 – Obsession Underway

Summary:

New project obsession is in full flow – but I still did quite a bit of paid work and some of my own writing too!

Monday:

I went into town to a freelancing workshop (useful and interesting), which also included access to a great coworking space for the rest of the day. The night before, I planned out what I could get done across all my creative and development projects in the time I would have available – completely forgetting that I actually have a fair bit of paid editing work to do this week!

Not that I’m complaining – but it showed how familiar I’d got with not having all that much work…

So instead of working on my CIEP Proofreading course or watching more Skillshare videos about making YouTube content or working on more stories for the collection I’m putting together – I edited a treatment and synopsis for a script by a client I hadn’t heard from in a while. And I also started working on developmental feedback on a DIY-related book for a new client.

Later, I made yet more notes for my current obsession – planning and executing my new YouTube channel!

Tuesday:

I was up super early today (brain obsessively thinking about and planning YouTube stuff – grrr!) so I got on with providing feedback on the DIY book

I also, inevitably, made some more notes for my YouTube project… Plus, I did some reshoots for the first video and worked on the thumbnail for it.

In the afternoon, it was Revision Club, so I went back to my short story collection and added two more.

Wednesday:

In a continuation of being majorly over-excited about my YouTube project, I filmed most of the required sections for the May TBR video, which won’t be posted until the last week of April… But it was so much fun!

Thursday:

I headed into town for a writing/editing day at the BFI, despite being fairly certain nobody was going to join me. It was still nice to be out of the flat and I also had a physio appointment close by in the afternoon. As with previous visits, the building was already open when I arrived shortly after 10am – but, today, the cafe was also already open, though the website still listed the opening time at 11am…

I started out by finishing off the developmental edits for the DIY book, and sent it back to the client for review and approval.

Next, I made an attempt at the second tutor-assessed assignment for my CIEP Proofreading course.

I also wrote a lengthy review of the lengthy book I finished the night before. On my way home, I decided I didn’t want to carry on with the next book I was reading, so I wrote a review when I got back.

Friday:

I sent a couple of cold emails to potential clients, based on some networking I did at the workshop on Monday.

And then it was off to Somerset for a glorious reading weekend! I read four whole books and did no work on my YouTube channel. Book reviews to follow next week…
