Summary:
It turns out coming back from an intense, transformational retreat weekend is not conducive to being productive for the rest of the week…
Monday:
It was sad to leave our happy retreat group back in London after an amazing weekend – I feel so lucky and grateful to have been a part of it!
I read some more of How To Stop Time by Matt Haig on the train and made more notes for both family book club and the upcoming podcast episode.
I also did some reflecting, reassessing and reviewing in terms of what I want to work on next with my writing, since I finished the first draft of my current novel on Saturday – and I want to take a break but I’ve also got tons of other exciting projects to work on! I think I’m mostly going to play it by ear and see how it goes…
Tuesday:
I was still very low on sleep after the over-stimulation of the retreat at the weekend, so I decided to give myself the day off, despite having a great new paid editing project to work on.
I did read a chunk more of How To Stop Time and made a lot more notes for both book club and podcast.
I also secured another new paid editing project, which has the potential to turn into a regular gig…
Wednesday:
I wrote a couple of reviews of a film I watched over the weekend and an audiobook I finished the day before.
I also helped Bear with his post about our recent weekend in Cromer.
Thursday:
I went to the coworking date in Shoreditch today and it was great to see everyone.
An editor friend recently recommended me to a publisher who produces books based on board games and RPGs I love and they sent through an editing test for me to do. It took some effort, because I’m not used to working with style guides, but it was really fun and I have all my fingers crossed that I pass and it leads to some work.
I also started editing the third Regency romance novel from a client I first connected with last year, so that was also fun!
I prepped Stanley the Bear’s blog post for the month, about fixed vs growth mindset.
Later, I had a lot of back and forth with more potential paid editing clients, which was exciting and encouraging.
Friday:
I edited a chunk more of the Regency romance.
I also did a sample edit for a potential memoir project I was very keen to get.
Later, I was allocated a short job to edit a relationship journal, so I completed that.
On the train into town for an evening out, I read more of How To Stop Time and added a lot to my podcast script.
Saturday:
I wrote a review of the Bill Bailey show we went to the night before.
Sunday:
I did some preparation for the Creative Expansion Talk I was due to take part in the next day with Sean from A Write and A Pint, about editing memoir.
