Summary:
Good end/start to the year! I very much enjoyed not yet returning to real life and instead spending most of my time playing games, reading and preparing to delay real life further by going on retreat…
Monday:
Is this the last week of 2024 or the first week of 2025? Since, for me, it involves finishing things off, putting together stats, and making plans, I’m making it the last week of 2024, Especially as I’m also off on writing retreat next week, for a proper, productive start to the New Year.
My main writing task for the end of the year was to do reviews of various things I finished this week – a computer game, a physical book, an audiobook and several volumes of a comic book series (which I read in e-book form).
I also started editing the latest podcast episode.
Tuesday:
I finished editing the latest podcast episode – which I think is one of our best yet!
I also wrote reviews of three new games I played over Christmas and New Year.
Wednesday:
I wrote my last review of 2024 (for a new game I played the day before) and calculated my review stats for the whole year. I did a lot of reading in 2024, which was nice, but I also DNF’d a lot of books. My total reviews were over 80% positive, though, so I’m still largely enjoying all the media I consume, which is good!
Thursday:
I wrote my first review of 2025, which was for an absolutely terrible card-based murder mystery game we played the day before.
Saturday:
I attended Claire P’s Write For Your Life Theme of the Year workshop, which provided valuable insights, as ever. It was lovely to see everyone, as all the attendees were people I’d shared workshops with before.
My theme for the year is: Be A Star (which incorporates a positive mindset, bringing light to other people, being generally fabulous, but treating all my goals and intentions lightly).
I also finished my first book of the year – The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods – and wrote my review, which was sadly quite negative, so it hasn’t been a great start to 2025 for reviews!
Sunday:
I spent most of the weekend reading a really excellent comic book series called Amulet, so I wrote a review of it once I’d finished all nine volumes.
