Summary:
This was mostly a reading retreat week – glorious! But I did manage to fit some writing/editing/creative stuff around the edges.
Monday:
It was a busy day today!
I worked on editing my current big paid client project in the morning – a YA fantasy novel – and also had a coaching call with Sean from A Write and A Pint, in which we talked about how best to approach putting together a writing workshop for a retreat in January (and he offered me a potential co-hosting job, helping him with expanding his workshop business next year!).
In my online focus session in the afternoon, I edited a short story for another client and also helped Stanley with his blog post for the month, which was about avoiding swinging too far in either direction when launching into a new project.
In the evening, I attended a business mastermind meeting, which is always lovely.
Tuesday to Thursday:
I did a lot of reading at an amazing Reading Retreat!
Friday:
I finally decided to give up on The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters and completed my podcast episode script about it.
Saturday:
After having most of the week off, I had big plans for today and headed into town for a full writing/editing day.
First on the list was expanding one of my rare horror short stories by 1000 words to fit an anthology submission call with a Monday deadline.
I also did multiple short story submissions and wrote many reviews of all the books I finished during the week.
Then, while I still had access to a plug in the cafe I’d chosen for the day (which was apparently going to be much busier than I’d anticipated), I finally went back to my current novel, A Wizard Calls My Name, and wrote the next scene. I also rejigged the outline again, which made it shorter and suddenly quite doable!
Later, I did some planning work on various things – the upcoming writing workshop I’m delivering at a retreat in January, and a couple of new short stories with deadlines at the end of March.
Overall, it was an immensely productive and largely enjoyable day – but I’m looking forward to taking some time off over Christmas!
Sunday:
I woke up with ideas for Wizard swirling around in my brain so I did some work on the outline for the rest of the novel.
