Summary:
A good week for both paid editing projects and personal creative projects – lots of progress on all fronts!
Monday:
I focused on editing the prison memoir today because I started with it and then got interested in what was going to happen next. So, I had to rejig my schedule a bit, to add more time for the Regency romance.
In the afternoon, I really didn’t want to write my current novel, A Wizard Calls My Name, despite being quite excited about the new scene I’d worked on with Dave the day before. But I had an online focus session booked in with a friend, so I cracked on and completed the new scene quite easily.
Then I wrote a reflective blog post about my inner conflict around my writing – I don’t ever want to write, but I can’t actually seem to stop.
Tuesday:
For my paid editing this morning, I finished the penultimate sections of both the prison memoir and the Regency romance.
In the afternoon, I joined my regular Revision Club call and got another Wizard scene done – so I’m now over half way through the first draft!
Wednesday:
I read more of The Gentleman in Moscow and added to my podcast script. I’ve been comparing the book to the recent TV adaptation – they are very different in tone and presentation, but I actually think they both have their merits…
I also wrote a fairly overdue review of a fun audiobook I finished earlier in the week – The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong.
Thursday:
I knuckled down to a lengthy morning of paid editing work – and finished both the prison memoir and the Regency romance, thereby clearing my docket completely.
I was waiting on a potential repeat client to confirm details of a big project, which would start next week, but I was also half-hoping that might not come through, so I could have a week off!
In the afternoon, I read more of A Gentleman in Moscow and added to my podcast script.
Saturday:
I finished reading A Gentleman in Moscow and added lots of notes to my podcast script.
Sunday:
I went through my Gentleman in Moscow podcast script and polished it up for recording next month.
I also wrote a very brief review for an audiobook I DNF’d earlier in the week.
Later, I set up a new podcast review script and started making notes for my next selected book – The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters, which may or may not end up being the subject of the next Reviews Revisited podcast episode, depending on whether I can get through enough of it to make a decent script.
Next week is currently entirely empty of paid editing work – but that could change at any time, and either way is fine with me, as I have several projects lined up for December and January already. It’s a nice position to be in.
