Summary:
An impromptu week off work due to Covid led to a lovely, restful time, mostly reading and playing games.
Monday:
Every plan I had for this week was disrupted this morning by the discovery that I have Covid…
So I cancelled all my outings and settled down to get some work done – which I did – but I was feeling a bit fuzzy and wanting to give myself the best chance to recover quickly, so after a couple of hours, I punted everything to next week.
I did get started on copy editing my friend Carla’s contemporary novel, and I also made some beta reader comments on a novella written by an editor in one of my online communities.
I also set up the opening to the script for a new solo podcast episode, all about trying to find some five-star reads.
Tuesday:
I mostly didn’t do much of import today – but I did start rereading This Is How To Lose the Time War for the podcast and made some initial notes. I forgot how challenging a read it is – it took me 40 minutes to read 20 pages! At least it’s super short…
I finished the solo RPG I was working on – Her Odyssey – and was very happy with how it turned out in the end.
Wednesday:
I did all the setup and introductory writing for my next solo RPG – The Last Tea Shop – which was a lot of fun.
Thursday:
I started writing the notes for the first book in my ‘five-star read’ experiment – Before the Coffee Gets Cold.
I also wrote a review of the book I finished the day before – The Best Kind of People – which looked like it might have been heading towards a five-star rating, but dropped a star somewhere along the way. Still really good, though!
Then I embarked on my first reflective journaling adventure with The Last Tea Shop, which was really fun.
I also read some more of Time War and added to my podcast notes.
Friday:
I finished Before the Coffee Gets Cold, added to my podcast notes and wrote my review.
I also finished Time War, completed and edited my podcast script.
I’m now two months ahead of my recording schedule for the solo podcast episodes (though I have two finished scripts I’ve yet to actually record), which is another two months ahead of the posting schedule. But I’m going to push on for a bit to finish The Hunger Games trilogy while the first two are still fresh in my mind – and then I might take a break for a bit!
I started my next book for the ‘five-star read’ solo podcast episode, set up my script and started making notes – it’s Outdrawn by Deanna Grey.
Saturday:
Dave and I completed a computer game we’d been playing together (The Wild Eternal), so I wrote my review.
Later, Dave helped me finish another computer game I’d been playing on my own (Botany Manor), so I wrote a review of that too.
Sunday:
I did some more podcast reading and kept making notes.
